Our new tank car used by the MÁV maintenance of way section is finished. Our model is the copy of the original MÁV MOW vehicle both in structure, paint and lettering.

The car our model is based on differs from the other tank cars in it’s role. Instead of transporting goods, it’s tasks are related to the maintenance of way. MOW is often handed the “discarded” stock of the state railway, and tries to distinguish it’s vehicles from the similar ones by painting it’s entire surface (usually to the colour green). During the reclassification, both the car’s running number and serial may change. However, the original vehicle our model is based on was only repainted in the area surrounding the running number (the running number has also changed), so to signal the vehicle’s reclassification to MOW.

Modification of the MÁV MOW tank car:

The vehicle’s base model is a Piko branded car of H0 scale. It is structurally the same as the MÁV MOW tank car, so our job was to do the painting and labeling.
